What opportunities will this course give me?
This programme is suitable for individuals wanting to enter the electrical installation industry and who are looking to gain basic knowledge and skills. Upon successful completion of the programme, you could progress onto Level 2 Electrical Installation or an Electrical Installation Apprenticeship.
What will I be learning?
You will gain an understanding of electrical installation and undertake basic electrical practical skills.
Why is this course for me?
Teaching will be conducted in the classroom and in the workshops and you will undertake short written assignments, carry out practical installations and on-line multiple choice exams.
Attendance will be 15 hours per week in the College. It is expected that time is spent on assignments, research and homework outside of timetabled classes.
What do I need to sign up?
You will require 5 GCSEs at grade A*- D / 9-3 including English and Maths and will need to complete a successful interview in college, demonstrating your interest and commitment to study. You will also be required to sit BKSB assessments and
All students without GCSEs at grade A*-C / 9-4 grade in English or Maths will be required, as a condition of the programme, to undertake either a GCSE or Functional Skills programme.
Is there anything else I need to know?
Steel toe-capped footwear is required for the workshop. Other personal protective equipment (PPE) will be supplied by the College.
Text books will enhance your learning; recommendations will be made at the start of the programme.
