A career as an Electrician is both fulfilling and reliable; and for those who wish to dip their toes into this exciting industry, our Electrical Installations Level 2 award could be for you.
Its designed for students who aspire to become an electrician, but dont yet meet the requirements needed for an apprenticeship.
The programme is the ideal springboard to move into both the Level 3 Electrical Installation course or an Electrical Installation Apprenticeship. Previous learners on this course are Self Employed electrical improvers, or not yet employed in Electrical Contracted industry, so do not meet the Apprenticeship criteria- where full employment in electrical industry is necessary.

What will I be learning?
These qualifications are intended for those who want to gain the knowledge and abilities that will enable you to gain the underlying knowledge to progress onto an Electrotechnical Apprenticeship Programme or to the Level 3 2365 course
The Level 2 qualification is designed for new entrants to the industry, providing them with the basic skills and experience they need.
The Level 3 qualification is aimed at those who have already completed the Level 2 qualification. The course is assessed by means of online exams, written assessments and practical assessments.
Why is this course for me?
The course is a component in your journey to becoming fully qualified; once completed, you will be able to transition into the Level 3 qualification. Both awards - combined with the crucial work experience you will take part in while at Eastleigh and your NVQ3 - are the important ingredients necessary to becoming a registered electrician.
This is a flexible course that can seamlessly fit in with other commitments, running on a day release over one year and two terms, with the follow up Level 3 course over one term and one year.
How will my learning be enhanced?
We always encourage our students to take on work experience and placements while studying at Eastleigh to truly deepen their learning experience. Our lecturers and tutors will guide you towards the best opportunities based on your future aspirations.
Many of our adult learners have even gained employment links by networking within their peer group, with others moving straight onto employment as an electrical improver. For those who hope to continue their education at Eastleigh or beyond, support will also be on hand to help you with applications and interviews.
What do I need to sign up?
The students need no prior qualifications but will need to pass an aptitude test, including an initial Maths assessment, and have an interview before being offered a place on the course.
Is there anything else I need to know?
This course is suitable for those learners who wish to be become electricians but are not employed in the industry.
Gloves and steel toe-capped footwear are required for the workshop.
Duration:
Level 2 - one year plus two terms
Level 3 - one term plus one year
