What opportunities will this course give me?
Theres a lot that goes into becoming an electrician; varied experience, multi-layered skills and robust knowledge. To kick start that journey, we recommend our Level 1 award in Electrical Installations.
This introductory programme is for those who aspire to build a career in the electrical installation industry but dont yet meet the entry criteria for our Level 2 award. Throughout this dynamic course, youll build the foundation of knowledge needed to confidently take the next step towards your dream career, be that through further education of an Electrical Installation Apprenticeship.
Whatever avenue you choose to take, you will be supported by Eastleighs team of passionate, industry trained staff; they will work alongside you from beginning to end to ensure your ultimate success.
What will I be learning?
You will gain an understanding of electrical installation and undertake basic electrical practical skills. Ultimately you will gain the confidence to advance onto the level 2 or directly to an apprenticeship, whilst improving on your Maths and English

That means youll have the opportunity to put your learning into action with hands on tasks and assessments. In addition, assignments will span both written and practical, preparing you with the foundation knowledge needed to break into the trade.
Youll benefit from access to influential industry professionals, as well as take part in regular work experience placements alongside your studies. Combined, this will provide you with an authentic insight into the industry, vastly improve your employability and give you all-important connections.

What do I need to sign up?
You will require 5 GCSEs at grade A*- D / 9-3 including English and Maths and will need to complete a successful interview in college, demonstrating your interest and commitment to study. You will also be required to sit BKSB assessments and diagnostic testing.
All students without GCSEs at grade A*-C / 9-4 grade in English or Maths will be required, as a condition of the programme, to undertake either a GCSE or Functional Skills programme and achieve these in order to progress to level 2
Is there anything else I need to know?
Steel toe-capped footwear is required for the workshop. Other personal protective equipment (PPE) will be supplied by the College.
Text books will enhance your learning; recommendations will be made at the start of the programme.

For learners aged 19+ the price is upon application only, and after receiving information, advice & guidance.
