The digital industry is massive and provides a huge marketplace for employment opportunities within a wide range of industries.
Cyber security is one of the fastest growing industries with cyber-attacks becoming greater than ever before or a perhaps coding and developing systems or websites, as well as software support, IT technicians or computer networking.
Computer-generated animation features strongly in motion pictures (to create special effects or an animated film in its own right), as well as in aspects of television work, architectural visualisation, and the computer games industry.
From studying on this course, learners may progress within education to a level 3 course or an apprenticeship in Cyber Security, Infrastructure Technician, Computing, Systems Development, Networking, IT, Creative Media, Game Design, CGI, Film and TV.
Successful completion of a level 3 course would allow students to progress on to a university degree.
What will I be learning?
This programme is designed for individuals interested in digital industries, such as digital media, graphics, animation, mobile app development, web design, computer networking and programming.
Throughout the programme you will create a combination of digital media and technical applications and will learn the techniques and skills required and used by industry.
Successful completion of the course will give you a BTEC Level 1/Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Information and Creative Technology
Why is this course for me?
The programme is taught through lectures, practical sessions, seminars, group work and remote learning tools, all using industry standard software.
Students will be assessed by a variety of assessment methods. So not just exam based.
How will my learning be enhanced?
The progression opportunities are good upon completion of this course and Maths and English will also be studied alongside for anyone who does not have a grade 4 or better in these subjects. There is also the work experience aspects to the course that allow you to practice your newly learned skills for real in the industry.

What do I need to sign up?
You will require at least four GCSEs grades 9-3. These need to include English and Mathematics. As part of the program you will need to study English and Maths as appropriate to achieve a grade 4 or better. All applicants should also complete a successful interview in college, demonstrating interest and commitment to study and have good attendance and attainment reports from a previous school or college.
Is there anything else I need to know?
All students can use our Learning Centre which is fully equipped with modern PCs, printers and scanners. Access to the Internet is available in all computer rooms. All full-time students will be provided with email facilities for use with coursework.
Important: Learners will be expected to have a suitable laptop or PC available for their own use at home (specifications available upon request).
