What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.
This qualification is suitable for those who work within the Health and Social Care and Childrens Care sectors. It provides Learners with an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of learning disabilities care in a wide range of job roles.

What does this programme involve?

This qualification is designed for learners interested in, or new to, working with individuals with learning disabilities. It covers a range of key areas of knowledge applicable to working in the sector.

There are 6 mandatory units that are required to be successfully completed and they are:

-Understand the context of supporting individuals with learning disabilities.
-Introduction to personalisation in social care.
-Principles of positive risk-taking for individuals with disabilities.
-Principles of supporting individuals with a learning disability to access health care.
-Introductory awareness of autistic spectrum condition
-Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care.

Learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the units.

How is the programme taught and assessed?

Through guided learning using the student support material, one-to-one sessions with the tutor, group tutorials and independent study.

What else do I need to know?

The qualification provides Learners with knowledge and understanding to help them prepare to care for an individual with learning disabilities or difficulties. The qualification provides an understanding of the principles required to ensure an individual with learning disabilities is provided with person-centred care.

How do I apply?

If you are hoping to undertake a workbased apprenticeship, please be aware that you will need to be employed in a relevant role in industry and your employer must agree to your training.
