What opportunities will this course give me?
On successful completion of this qualification, learners who are in a supervisory or senior role may wish to continue their development by undertaking one of the following qualifications:
• Level 4/5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Adult Care (RQF)
• Specialist qualifications in adult care or healthcare
• Qualifications in coaching or mentoring
What will I be learning?
This apprenticeship aims to develop further, specialist skills and knowledge in the learners areas of responsibility which will enable them to lead in areas such as assessment or enablement, for example. Learners will have responsibility for assessing performance and quality of care delivery and they will provide coaching and mentoring to their colleagues. The content is appropriate for learners in a variety of settings in adult social care including residential care, domiciliary care or day centres. It is also suitable for lead personal assistants who work as part of a personal assistant team at a senior level. To achieve the Level 3 Diploma, learners must study Mandatory units:
• Communication
• Handling information
• Professional development
• Person-centred approaches
• Equality, diversity & inclusion
• Health & safety
• Responsibilities of a care worker
• Duty of care
• Safeguarding & protection
Alongside the above mandatory units, learners will pick from a selection of optional units based on the work setting and their job role. These will be discussed and picked with the assessor to ensure they are able to evidence competency whilst on programme.

We have leading experts in the chosen field of study to guide you through the course and push you to exceed your expectations. A variety of teaching methods will be using including whole class, group work, team work, pair work, discussions, exercises, and handouts. All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods, which could include written assignments or tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet, posters, charts or diagrams, or setting up an information board. Access to the colleges highly trained, friendly staff, building accessible to all, study facilities and resources such as: library, access to computers, email, secure online classrooms and portfolios supporting both on-site and remote delivery of the qualification, as well as a gym, Costa and refectory serving selection of hot and cold food and beverages.
How will my learning be enhanced?
As part of your qualification you will need to complete 20% off the job training which is supported by your employer, this is a mandatory part of your course in order to gain your qualification.
Why is Eastleigh College my best choice?
Every month you will be required to attend a 5 hours session delivered at Eastleigh College.This is followed by weekly online session where tasks and regular work will be set for you to complete each week. These online sessions will either be live lessons or pre- recorded sessions with resources produced to engage with.
What do I need to sign up?
There are no prerequisites for this course but you do need to be in employment with in the care sector.
