What opportunities will this course give me?
On successful completion, apprentices may progress into a Chef de Partie role or Senior Production Chef role.
You will gain practical experience whilst working towards a recognised qualification
What will I be learning?
The apprenticeship standard covers the core skills, knowledge and behaviours required to demonstrate competency within specific areas to include:
• Culinary
• Food Safety
• People
• Business
A Commis Chef prepares food and carries out basic cooking tasks under the supervision of a more senior chef. The primary objective of the Commis Chef is to learn and understand how to carry out the basic functions in every section of the kitchen with a view to specialising in an area where they feel most inspired.
Why is this course for me?
You will develop through on and off-the-job learning and are expected to attend Eastleigh College for one day per month on a Tuesday for workshops/tutorials/practical sessions and will demonstrate competency though an End Point Assessment.
How will my learning be enhanced?
Our team of professionals will deliver the training with a blended approach to enhance learners knowledge, skills and behaviours to include:-
• One evening a month attendance at Eastleigh college for onsite practical sessions in our industry style kitchens
• Online weekly lessons via our digital delivery platforms - Google Classroom
• Directed study with remote delivery support
Additionally, unless exempt on entry, apprentices will be required to achieve Level 1 Functional Skills in English & Maths and take the test at Level 2 prior to undertaking the End Point Assessment.

What do I need to sign up?

The apprenticeship is assessed independently at the end of your programme of learning by an End Point Assessment
