After successful completion of this course you will be ready for employment or further training within the health and social care sector.
What will I be learning?
You will learn the core principles of customer service in a health and social care setting, and develop communication skills to enable effective communication with colleagues and patients. You will explore the impact of different health conditions on the individual and how you can support them, and their families, within the setting.
Why is this course for me?
This course gives you the opportunity to explore different roles within an NHS Trust, including care, administration and customer service. You will be supported by industry expert tutors to prepare for employment and take part in a high quality work placement with University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
How will my learning be enhanced?
You will be supported to develop your math, English and ICT skills alongside a high quality, hands-on work placement within University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

What do I need to sign up?
Apply online. You will need to be aged 16-24 (or 25 with an EHCP). Eligible to work in England. Unemployed, or have little or no work experience, but are motivated to work.
Qualified below level 3.
Is there anything else I need to know?
Assessment is through a combination of written assignments and professional discussion.

School-leavers on NHS career path thanks to a unique care course
A pioneering group of learners who left school last year wishing to work within healthcare have now completed the first year of a unique Health and Social Care study programme at Eastleigh College that features a dedicated work placement at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS).
Unique course for tomorrow's healthcare professionals
An innovative and exciting Level 3 Health & Social Care course has been launched for Sept 2020. The learning programme has been developed in partnership between Eastleigh College and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, and offers a unique introduction to school and college leavers with a desire to work in a range of clinical healthcare roles including nursing, midwifery and occupational therapy. The study programme is the first of its kind, and is likely to be even more popular following the government's recent announcement of a £5,000 per year NHS bursary scheme.
