What are the entry requirements?

To be able to enroll onto this course, learners must be 16+ and officially left school. There are no formal entry requirements but holding a level 1 could be beneficial.

What does this programme involve?

The aim of the learning material is to give individuals an introduction to the issues around infection control and to examine the responsibility each person has with dealing with infection and how to prevent it.

This qualification covers the principles of the causes and spread of infection, cleaning and decontamination, personal hygiene and preventative measures.

There are 4 mandatory units that are required to be successfully completed and they are:
-Principles of the cause and spread of infection in health care settings
-Principles of the importance of personal hygiene and health in the prevention and control of infection in health care settings
-Principles of decontamination, cleaning and waste management in health care settings
-Principles of infection prevention and control in a health care setting

Learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the units.

How is the programme taught and assessed?

This course can be achieved on a 1-2-1 basis, group learning or distance learning and all learners will be provided with the necessary resources to to complete this qualification.

Learners will have a better understanding of the prevention and control of infection.

How do I apply?

If you are hoping to undertake a workbased apprenticeship, please be aware that you will need to be employed in a relevant role in industry and your employer must agree to your training.
