What opportunities will this course give me?
A Level 2 Diploma in Care gives learners the opportunity to gain employment in a range of jobs in the care, health and social care sector. Previous learners have progressed on to employment as care assistants, health care assistants or work in child care settings. This course is ideal if you are starting your career in Health and Social Care. It follows on from the Care Certificate and will build on your skills, knowledge and behaviours improving the care you provide for your service users. Following completion of this course it will broaden your career opportunities as well as supporting progression onto the Level 3 Health and Social Care.
What will I be learning?
This course is made up of mandatory units which will help you build on your current knowledge. You will then have the choice of optional units which means you can tailor the course to fit your organisation or learn more about a subject which interests you.
Why is this course for me?
If you are new to care or have been out of learning for a number of years this course will help you go back to basics. It will give you confidence to care for your clients while meeting CQC requirements and following codes of practice.
How will my learning be enhanced?
This course will be made up of a blended approach with some in college master classes and online sessions. This will ensure that all learners are accessing relevant learning resources and have weekly contact with the assessor.
Why is Eastleigh College my best choice?
Each month you will have a 5 hour master class at Eastleigh college, you will also have weekly online sessions which will be followed by assignments which you have to submit. You will need to be employed in the care industry so we can observe your work practice as part of this qualification.
What do I need to sign up?
There are no prerequisites for this qualification however, you will need to be in employment in the care industry.
Is there anything else I need to know?
This course is done through the Standalone route as well as the Adult Education Budget (AEB) route.

A pioneering group of learners who left school last year wishing to work within healthcare have now completed the first year of a unique Health and Social Care study programme at Eastleigh College that features a dedicated work placement at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS).
Unique course for tomorrow's healthcare professionals
An innovative and exciting Level 3 Health & Social Care course has been launched for Sept 2020. The learning programme has been developed in partnership between Eastleigh College and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, and offers a unique introduction to school and college leavers with a desire to work in a range of clinical healthcare roles including nursing, midwifery and occupational therapy. The study programme is the first of its kind, and is likely to be even more popular following the government's recent announcement of a £5,000 per year NHS bursary scheme.
