-NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care
-Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Dementia Care

What are the entry requirements?

There are no specific learning requirements for this qualification; however, learners must be over 18 and have officially have left school to undertake this qualification.

What does this programme involve?

This qualification aims to raise your awareness of the different types of medicine and how they are used, the procedures for obtaining, using, storing and disposing of medicines as well as the administration of medication, the legislation and audit processes related to medication and the issues of responsibility and accountability when dealing with medicines.

There are 4 mandatory units that are required to be successfully completed and they are:
-Understand medication and prescriptions
-Supply, storage and disposal of medication
-Understand the requirements for the safe administration of medication
-Record-keeping and audit processes for medication administration and storage

Learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the units.

How is the programme taught and assessed?

Through guided learning using the student support material, one-to-one sessions with the tutor, group tutorials and independent study.

What else do I need to know?

This qualification is designed for a wide range of learners who wish to understand the principles of how to handle medicines safely.

How do I apply?

If you are hoping to undertake a workbased apprenticeship, please be aware that you will need to be employed in a relevant role in industry and your employer must agree to your training.
