What are the entry requirements?

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification; however, learners might find it helpful if theyve already achieved a Level 1 qualification. Learners must be 16 or have officially have left school to undertake this qualification.

What does this programme involve?

This qualification is designed for learners interested in, or new to, working in adult social care in England. It covers a range of key areas of knowledge applicable to working in the sector.

There are 9 mandatory units that are required to be successfully completed and they are:

-Principles of communication in adult social care settings
-Principles of personal development in adult social care settings
-Principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care
-Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
-Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or childrens and young peoples settings
-Understand the role of the social care worker
-Understand person-centred approaches in adult social care settings
-Understand health and safety in social care settings
-Understand how to handle information in social care settings

Learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the units.

How is the programme taught and assessed?

Through guided learning using the student support material, one-to-one sessions with the tutor, group tutorials and independent study.

What else do I need to know?

To further develop your knowledge and understanding of the different aspects of preparing to work in adult social care settings. Also how to apply equality and diversity and health and safety to your role.

How do I apply?

If you are hoping to undertake a workbased apprenticeship, please be aware that you will need to be employed in a relevant role in industry and your employer must agree to your training.
