What career opportunities can this lead to?

Learners who achieve this qualification could go on to complete any of the other level 2 VRQs we offer:

-NCFE level 2 Understanding Working in Mental Health
-NCFE level 2 Preparing to work in Adult Social Care
-NCFE level 2 Safe Handling of Medicines

What are the entry requirements?

There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification, although some prior knowledge in this area would be an advantage. Learners must be 16+ and have officially left school.

What does this programme involve?

This qualification is designed to develop learners knowledge and understanding on mental health conditions.

There are 10 mandatory units that are required to be successfully completed and they are:

-Understanding mental health
-Understanding stress
-Understanding anxiety
-Understanding phobias
-Understanding depression
-Understanding post-natal depression
-Understanding bipolar disorder
-Understanding schizophrenia
-Understanding dementia
-Understanding eating disorders

Learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the units.

How is the programme taught and assessed?

This VRQ is taught and assessed through guided learning using the student support material, one-to-one sessions with the tutor, group tutorials and independent study.

All of the resources needed to complete this course will be provided and there will always be someone to assist learners.

What else do I need to know?

It enables the young or adult learner to increase awareness and update knowledge on relevant legislation and to broaden their knowledge on mental health conditions.

How do I apply?

If you are hoping to undertake a workbased apprenticeship, please be aware that you will need to be employed in a relevant role in industry and your employer must agree to your training.
