This course is for those wishing to progress being a Freight Forwarder and dealing with the importing and exporting of goods.

Solent Partners has successfully secured over £1.2m from the Department for Education (DfE) to support the establishment of Skills Bootcamps for the Solent region. This funding will boost for the Solent's workforce, ensuring employers have access to new talent, and individuals acquire the skills to get the type of jobs that they aspire to.
If you are aged 19 and over and looking to change sectors or progress in your current industry, a Skills Bootcamp in Logistics could be your next step to a better job. This is ideal for those already working in the logistics industry and wish to change or expand their roles. It is also ideal for those that are wanting to change careers, such as the armed forces or start a new career if unemployed. This is level 3 training for which you will receive a certificate of attendance.
Once you have successfully completed your course you will be able to apply for jobs in the logical industries and progress into work ideally with a range of logistic (Supply Chain Management) companies in the south.
The focus is working in a Global Business industry with Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
This is a 12-week course with teaching face to face for 4 hours, along with 2 hours a week 1-1 hours for support with short online courses and tutorials. You will be expected to do some self-directed study.
What will I be learning?
The role of Freight Forwarding in International Supply Chain Logistics.
• The processes involved in Freight Forwarding.
• How freight movements are regulated.
• Standard Operating Procedures.
• The role of Customs Departments when exporting and importing goods.
• Understand how to manage risks associated with exporting and importing goods.
• Understand quality control and safety procedures and processes.
Why is this course for me?
Global Business and Logistics plays a significant part in everyday life, ensuring the supply chain for all goods, products and services, reach the end user. This includes food, clothes, medicine (and just about everything else) being transported via road, sea, air and rail to their destination.
It is a sector of considerable opportunity for young people, providing an opportunity to develop a wide range of job skills and specialisms. These include warehousing, supply chain management, and freight forwarding. In addition, every retail organisation has a supply chain, so this is an area where there are multiple opportunities for employment for people who have a sound knowledge and understanding of logistics.
Choosing a logistics career pathway also offers many international employment opportunities - as well as all over the UK.
How will my learning be enhanced?
Guest speakers from industry will be invited to share their knowledge in sessions.
The focus is on growth industries - for example, logistics, healthcare, digital technology - which offer many employment opportunities around the UK.
The training and education you will receive is designed in partnership with employers - for employment.

In the south, we have excellent employment opportunities with logistical companies dealing with transport, local ports, airports and rail along with warehousing opportunities. We are near the SOLENT FREEPORT.
Is there anything else I need to know?
The course is funded and is free for employed learners (subject to meeting the entry requirements).
Self-employed learners are eligible for full funding.
As part of DfE funding requirements for this course, the employers of employed individuals will be required to make a contribution towards the cost of the course.
Large employers will need to make a contribution of 30% of the funding amount. Small or medium employers (SMEs with max 250 staff) will need to make a contribution 10% of the funding amount.
Sessions will be delivered for 3 to 5 hours on a Thursday afternoon.
