Students have the opportunity to study the following related UAL Art & Design courses at Eastleigh College:
UAL L3 Award in Printmaking.
UAL L3 Award in Photography.
With your drawing course and one of the above courses combined, you will be eligible to apply for the part-time HNC In Art & Design (Contemporary Art Practice). This is a level 4 higher education course and is the equivalent to the first year of a university degree course. You can apply with a combined portfolio of art, design & media work and two of these relevant L3 Award qualifications.
A general interest in drawing and its various applications within Art, Design & Media. Level 2 qualifications in a related art & design based subject are desirable but students will be considered with a selection of visual works in a sketchbook or portfolio.
This course is for students interested in developing their drawing skills through exploring and experimenting with a diverse range of materials and techniques. Students will work with a team of practicing artists & designers over the twenty-week course, to develop their drawing skills, and develop their creative potential producing a varied body of work. The course will take students through a variety of visual examples and techniques, introducing alternative approaches to drawing and creating visual research. Students will have the support, experience, advice and guidance of staff in developing a body of work to create a portfolio, which can then be used to aid their further study.
Students will have the chance to develop and explore a vast range of drawing techniques and methods including:
Experimental drawing and mark making
3D Sculptural Drawing
Spatial and architectural drawing
Composition and narrative in drawing
Scale & perspective drawing.
Semiotics & image analysis in Drawing.
Drawing Research approaches.
Mixed Media drawing techniques and approaches
You will explore these ideas using a variety of drawing materials, techniques and process and within a variety of art & design contexts to produce a lively a dynamic portfolio of work.
Students will then have the opportunity to build a portfolio from the work generated from these sessions, which may aid application to further education.
