What opportunities will this course give me?
The finance, accountancy, business and communications skills developed in the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting can lead to employment as: Accounts Administrator, Accounts Assistant, Accounts Payable Clerk, Purchase/Sales Ledger Clerk, Trainee Accounting Technician or Trainee Finance Assistant. The accountancy and finance knowledge developed in this qualification is also the underpinning knowledge needed for the higher-level accountancy and financial skills developed in the AAT Advanced and Professional Accounting Qualifications.
What will I be learning?
The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Foundation Certificate in Accounting is an ideal starting point for anyone wishing to pursue a career in accountancy or finance, covering a range of foundation accounting and finance skills in five mandatory units. The purpose of this unit is to give students a basic introduction to costing; building a sound foundation in the knowledge and skills they need for more complex costing and management accounting units. Students will use a range of techniques to cost materials, labour and overheads to provide information for planning, decision making and control.
Why is this course for me?
This course of study is delivered via distance learning. Included in the cost of the course are text and revision books, specialist online resources, one exam sitting, telephone and email support as well as limited one to one tutor support. This module will be assessed by way of a computer based assessment taken in college.
What do I need to sign up?
New applicants (those who have not yet taken a Level 2 AAT unit at Eastleigh College) will be required to attend an interview at the college which will include a simple English and Maths assessment.
Is there anything else I need to know?
Students should expect to study for approximately 5 - 10 hours per week. Students are required to apply to the AAT for student membership upon enrolment. This is an AAT requirement and will incur an additional cost.
