What opportunities will this course give me?
The finance, accountancy, business and communications skills developed in the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting can lead to employment as an accounts administrator, accounts assistant, accounts payable clerk, purchase/sales ledger clerk, trainee accounting technician and trainee finance assistant to name but a few. The accountancy and finance knowledge developed in this qualification is also the underpinning knowledge needed for the higher-level accountancy and financial skills developed in the AAT Advanced and Professional Accounting Qualifications.
What will I be learning?
The AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting is an ideal starting point for anyone wishing to pursue a career in accountancy or finance, covering a range of foundation accounting and finance skills in four mandatory units. These units are, Introduction to Bookkeeping (ITBK), Principles of Bookkeeping Controls (POBC), Principles of Costing (PCTN) and The Business Environment (BENV).
The purpose of this qualification is to ensure that students are well prepared to progress into a business, finance or professional accountancy career or further education. A student completing this qualification will develop accountancy skills in double-entry bookkeeping and basic costing, as well as an understanding of purchase, sales and general ledgers. Students will also learn basic Contract Law and develop the professional skills and behaviors needed to contribute effectively in the workplace. Working in accountancy requires good communication skills, good numeracy skills and an understanding of the business environment, all of which are included in the qualification.
