Who we are looking for: 

We are seeking a motivated and organised individual to join our Finance Team who takes pride in their work and possess a can do attitude.

Winchester City Council’s apprenticeship scheme offers a valuable alternative career path to full time college or university study, with the aim of developing well-rounded, Exchequer Assistants with transferable skills and valuable work experience in the public sector.

Apprenticeship Overview: 

This is an Exchequer Services Assistant role, beginning with a 15-18 month Apprenticeship programme, at the end of which you will have learned to work flexibly across multitude tasks, contributing to and supporting the delivery of a high-quality finance service.

Winchester City Council’s apprenticeship scheme is a great way to gain valuable work experience while working towards a recognised qualification. Your time will be spent studying at Eastleigh College and working within the Finance Team where you will have the opportunity to put your new skills to the test and learn about this diverse areas of our business. The council will fully support you in your learning and ‘off the job’ training.

Depending on your current level of qualifications you will study:

Level 2 Finance Assistant to achieve AAT2 (with the opportunity to progress to Level 3)

or Level 3 Assistant Accountant if you are already AAT2 qualified.

The cost of your course will be fully funded through the Apprenticeship Levy with no cost to yourself.

Qualification Requirements: 

4 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or higher including Maths and English (for Level 2 Apprenticeship)

Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Note: You are not eligible for this scheme if you currently hold or are working towards a qualification at the same or higher level in a related subject. Further note, prior relevant experience may be considered.
