What opportunities will this course give me?
This course will enable you to be more fluent in Italian, which could enhance career opportunities.
Do you have a passion for Italy and it's beautiful language? Then why not give our Italian Advanced programme a go?
This is a relaxed paced course best suited for those who are already fairly fluent in the language. There are no formal assessments and you will be encouraged to learn at a pace and style that works best for you, including time outside of the classroom.
Lessons are engaging and varied and you will be expected to take an active role in the classroom. Learners are encouraged to engage in topical discussions with their peers and to fine tune their application of grammar rules and vocabulary enrichment.
On successful completion of the course, learners will typically be at level B2 to C2 of the CEFR (Common European Framework for Languages); these are guidelines that are used by employers and educational institutions to assess the individual's language ability. At this point, you should be confident enough to progress in fluency and breadth of your vocabulary, as well as reading and writing skills.
What will I be learning?
Learners will be able to improve their fluency in speaking and their ability to understand written and spoken language. The emphasis will be on conversation and greater knowledge of the issues in Italy.
You will attain greater fluency and knowledge of cultural and social issues. There are no formal exams but learner's work is marked regularly and feedback given.
A College Certificate will be awarded on request and upon successful completion of the course.
Why is this course for me?
The Italian Advanced course is taught by a tutor who is a native speaker with a wealth of experience teaching Italian to adult learners. She adores the subject and that enthusiasm shines through.
However, it is important to remember that since this is a leisure course, the motivation to learn will ultimately come from the learner themselves. For those wishing to get the utmost from the course, we recommend a minimum of one hour study per week.
The topics covered are varied, offering an enriching learning experience and the programme can be adjusted to suit the learners needs and interests. We strive to keep our leisure courses flexible and genuinely valuable, Italian Advanced is no exception to this.
How will my learning be enhanced?
Italian Advanced is a stress free course with no formal assessments or accreditations. You will be advised of any interesting opportunities outside of the classroom to deepen your understanding of the language. This could be anything from conversation clubs, to film shows and local initiatives. Exposure to the language is invaluable for anyone who wants to ingrain their newly acquired skills. It is something we will support you on every step of the way.
