What opportunities will this course give me?
Are you keen to learn more about the world of picture framing? This creative craft requires an eye for detail and an artistic flair; bring the two together, and you will have the opportunity to preserve memories and achievements within these beautiful frames.
This course has been designed to deliver a strong base of the core skills and the techniques needed to produce your own picture frames.
What will I be learning?
You will learn how to design and plan a picture framing project. You will be able to identify various types of framing material and understand their appropriate use. You will be shown how to cut and join a frame, cut glass to size, and make a mount with a bevel edged aperture. Additionally, you will learn how to cut double, oval and multiple aperture mounts.
You will also learn wood finishing methods and how to assemble your finished frame from its component parts. You will be shown methods of framing in a cost effective way, and taught a formula for pricing a Picture Framing job.
Throughout the course, the tutor will be on hand to provide advice and support with making your project.

The course content is flexible, and will be adapted to suit the needs and interests of the learners in the room. You will be invited to share what it is you enjoy most about picture framing and what you personally want to get out of the course. You will be taught and assessed in a practical way, ensuring a ''hands on'' experience that will be invaluable for your capacity to learn.
How will my learning be enhanced?
The course works as an excellent foundation and ''first step'' introduction to a new hobby.
Past learners have progressed in to creating home based businesses following the course...the options really are endless.
What do I need to sign up?
There are no formal entry requirements in respect of this course. All learners welcome.
Is there anything else I need to know?
Please bring pen, paper and eraser, plus a small picture you would like to frame (no bigger than A4).
You are responsible for the cost of materials as used. One or two inexpensive tools will be of help and the tutor can advise further. A budget of £10 should cover the costs.
