What opportunities will this course give me?
Learn how to carry out basic maintenance and repairs on your vehicle with our Car Maintenance for Beginners course.
Learners may wish to progress onto the Car Maintenance Follow-up course, NVQ courses in Automotive Studies, or other practical courses offered at Eastleigh College.
What will I be learning?
With tough economic times and escalating garage labour rate charges, DIY car maintenance has become very popular for owners of vehicles wishing to carry our routine maintenance and repair of vehicles. This course is designed to service the needs of both the inexperienced and regular DIY enthusiasts and provide the necessary and essential skills to safely carry out routine maintenance and repairs to vehicles.
The course covers the general requirements to safely carry out routine maintenance and repair of motor vehicles including: tyre checks, cooling systems, air induction, brakes, lubrication and routine servicing. We will also be able to demonstrate the MOT Testing process and explain the checks to ensure a vehicle is safe for the road.
There are no examinations or course work, however, some written work is to be completed at student's own pace.
A College Certificate is awarded on request.
