What opportunities will this course give me?
Do you want to take your creative writing to the next level? Learn how to create exceptionally compelling and original narratives with our Creative Writing Advanced course.
The aim of the programme is to refine the skills needed to submit industry standard work. This could be poetry, short stories, scripts, essays, full length fiction... whatever you love writing the most.
The course tutor has worked in the creative industry for almost two decades. During this time he has played a key role in reading theatre, TV and film submissions for leading agencies, whilst also working as an independent editor. His experience is enormous, and he truly understands what it takes to write and submit a successful piece of creative writing.
What will I be learning?
Learners will gain confidence in their writing as they are taught:
How to use the senses, figurative language and to correct grammar and punctuation.
How to understand the structure and shape of narrative writing.
How to create believable characters, placed in a setting that is influenced by its atmosphere.
How to build fictional structures with plots designed with tension and conflict that lead to a believable and marketable ending.
How to critically analyse and revise writing assignments.
How to set up a manuscript and to create a convincing covering letter and synopsis.
How to appreciate the various poetic forms, their rhythms and rhymes.
How to utilise the current markets for fiction, non-fiction and poetry.
Why is this course for me?
The creative writing industry is competitive, and getting your work published is a challenge in itself: however, with the right guidance on how to submit your work in the very best, most professional way possible, you can improve your chances tenfold.
Our advanced programme has been tailored for learners who already have a level of creative writing experience: you should be familiar with practice, looking to maximise your skills and opportunities.
This is ideal for learners who don't enjoy formal exams, as the course is not assessed. However, your tutor will read your work and provide feedback whenever requested: we want the course to be as valuable as possible, whilst reducing any pressure on learners.
How will my learning be enhanced?
The course does not have any professional accreditation, however, the learning and support you gain throughout your time on the course will be transformative for your onward journey. It is designed specifically for those who already have a level of writing experience: you will leave the course feeling more confident and accomplished, ready to put work forward for high level publications.
You will have access to regular recommendations on competitions and submissions for new writers: these will be provided from your first day right through until your final one. In addition, your tutor will provide information on how to spot the most respectable companies for submissions (and how to know which ones to avoid).
Essentially, everything shared on the course is gearing you up for the best chance of publication success.
What do I need to sign up?
