What opportunities will this course give me?
This hands on workshop will provide you with the skills to design and create your own prints using the lino cutting and printing method. Youll learn the specialist skills needed to work with lino material under the guidance of a qualified tutor.
This is a fun and inspiring way to develop a much-loved hobby or kick-start a new one. Youll be learning alongside other engaged and enthusiastic students.

What will I be learning?
This one-day workshop explores the processes used in subtractive printing which is utilised in block/lino print making work. Learners will have the opportunity to develop an image of their choice using the three cut method to develop a set of final print-based images.
Students will learn through practical exploration of the process and build a body of individual lino print works. These images can then be used in a variety of ways including handmade cards, labels or mounted prints.
You will learn how to:
• Using lino cutting tools safely and accurately
• How to choose the best cutting blade to achieve different marks and textures
• The basic elements of pattern design
• How to produce consistently accurate lino prints
• How to choose and layer inks to create the desired effect

The workshop is run on the mentality of learning by doing, and so its perfect for learners who prefer a practical approach to their studies. You will have the space to be creative and learn new skills.
Skills are taught through demonstrations, discussions, observation and practice.

Whilst you will not gain a professional qualification on this workshop, this is a great introduction to the world of lino cutting and printing.
You will have the opportunity to explore and be creative with your materials, learning in an environment with other enthusiastic and like-minded individuals.

There are no formal entry requirements in respect of this workshop. All beginners or those learners with some knowledge most welcome.

Please bring along an A5 size drawing or photo image which will be used on the workshop.
All tools and materials will be supplied as part of your course fee and there are no additional costs anticipated.
