What opportunities will this course give me?
Eastleigh College offer a variety of leisure courses to suit all interests, including our more comprehensive Jewellery Beginners course - please browse the website for further details.
What will I be learning?
The day will introduce learners to the essential techniques of jewellery making in a relaxed environment. You will be creating a sterling silver pendant to your own design. The tutor will guide you through a range of surface decorating techniques including embossing, texturing and reticulation.
You will use the piercing saw to cut out your initial shape which can be further developed using forming to give a more three dimensional quality. You will learn drilling, soldering, filing and polishing skills to refine your design into a finished piece of wearable art.
The class will be taught as a group and you will produce a simple design of your own with guidance and support from your tutor.
Why is this course for me?
Learners will be taught by demonstration and hands on experience.
How will my learning be enhanced?
You will be learning from an enthusiastic tutor with a passion for all things jewellery related and with a keen interest in gemstones. The tutor has gained a wealth of knowledge and practical experience in the industry since studying a degree in Jewellery and Silversmithing at the historic School of Jewellery in Birmingham. You will be encouraged and supported to develop your own style whilst creating pieces from design to realisation.
