What will I be learning?
The course is designed to promote basic garden design skills that can be used in your own garden or as a basis for commercial garden design.
You will learn the basics of starting to plan your garden, the process, the options and the pitfalls. It will show you the possibilities but also the limitations. We will look at innovative solutions to those limitations showing you that creation of a garden that you can enjoy is an achievable aim.
Proposed subjects covered are planning, landscaping, planting, lighting, water, storage, flow and resolving issues.
This course is aimed as a starter to designing your own garden. It is not designed as a stepping stone to becoming a professional but may help with accessing fully certificated courses elsewhere.
Why is this course for me?
You will learn using your own garden as an example and apply what you learn in practical design sessions. The sessions will be informative, practical and fun. There is no formal assessment or exam.
You will be taught through a mixture of presentation, discussion & practical tasks.
An Eastleigh College certificate can be awarded on request following successful completion of the course.
What do I need to sign up?
There are no formal entry requirements in respect of this course. The course is suitable for adults wishing to start the process of designing their own garden.
Is there anything else I need to know?
Students are responsible for the purchase of materials relevant to the course.
There are no additional costs anticipated. If you have a garden this would be helpful as the intention is to use these as your ongoing example.
Please bring pen and paper to the first class.
