What will I be learning?
Areas to be covered include exploring the theory and practice of art; knowledge of the lives and techniques of artists; and the political and social influences on their art.
Subjects to be covered include: Art through the 13th to 20th Centuries.
Why is this course for me?
You will learn by viewing and analysing selected works of artists, designs and crafts people, looking critically at how art works in the selected context of time, social and political influences.
As a non-accredited course there is no assessment; a college certificate will be awarded on request.
How will my learning be enhanced?
You will be taught by a tutor who has spent over 20 years teaching adults different aspects of art. They are a practicing artist with experience in the full spectrum of art history and art media, bringing both a personal love for drawing and painting along with the skills to create enriching, engaging lessons on art history.
What do I need to sign up?
There are no formal entry requirements for this course; this course is suitable for adults wishing to extend their knowledge of Art History.
Is there anything else I need to know?
Please bring a pen, pencil and notebook to the class.
There may be additional costs associated with the cost of visiting museums and galleries.
