Would you like to know more about the settings on your digital camera and learn how to take better photos? Our Digital Photography course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to get to grips with your camera.

What will I be learning?
This course will aim to cover the following topics:
• Understanding the key functions of your camera and equipment - how it all works
• Understanding how a view point will change the image
• Begin to understand and demonstrate the rule of thirds
• Begin to understand how to introduce geometric shapes into images
• Understanding aperture and shutter speed
• Basics of Photoshop
• Constructing and manipulating a digital image
• Basic lighting skills
• Printing your photos
This course will help you to develop a basic skill in photographic techniques. You will be provided with underpinning knowledge of the photographic process and gain a sound foundation for further study. You will learn how to use your Digital Camera and equipment effectively and safely, and essentially take better photographs.
An Eastleigh College Certificate is awarded on successful completion of the course.

Whilst you will not gain a professional qualification, this course is a great opportunity to learn all about your camera and how to take better photos, all under the guidance of your tutor.
There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and participate in discussion with your tutor and other learners.
You will learn from a mixture of theory and practical work, but the course will be essentially practical with as much hands on as possible.

What do I need to sign up?
There are no formal entry requirements in respect of this course, all beginners most welcome.
Is there anything else I need to know?
The course is suitable for anyone who wishes to join a structured course that will teach them the basic skills to become a competent digital photographer.
Materials as used. It is the learners responsibility to purchase the required consumable materials.
Please bring a pen and paper to class, the camera and cables you intend to use, along with the manual if you have it. Please note that any equipment brought into class is the responsibility of the learner whilst on college or venue premises.
