What opportunities will this course give me?
This course will give you a good grounding in the essentials of Photoshop so that you can use a wide range of techniques to improve your photographs, as well as creating new images! It covers fundamental building blocks such as layers, and is up to date with the latest capabilities in Photoshop.

What will I be learning?
You will learn a wide variety of skills and techniques, starting with correcting common faults in digital images:
* develop a simple Workflow that brings out the very best in your images
* Crop and Straighten your images
* correct Exposure problems or change Exposure to add impact
* change and correct Colours in an image, and create Black and White images
* use Dodge and Burn to bring out detail and add punch to your pictures
* remove objects from a picture, from dust spots to larger things
* repair old pictures and see how Content Aware enables seamless mends
* replace a dull Sky with a stunning one
* learn how Layers help you build up edits, and work with multiple layers
* use simple Selection tools to combine parts of images
An Eastleigh College certificate is available on request following completion of the course.

Whether you are a beginner or have some Photoshop skills, this course will help you improve your skills and gain confidence. We take a hands-on approach so that you learn by doing after watching techniques demonstrated using a data projector. There is a are helpful resources and a knowledgeable tutor to support you, and one-to-one guidance is given.

What do I need to sign up?
The course is suitable for beginners with no prior knowledge of Adobe Photoshop. You should have basic computer skills, such as using a mouse, double- and right-clicking, and understand terminology such as drop-down menus.
Is there anything else I need to know?
The college uses Adobe Photoshop CC running on Microsoft Windows PCs. This course is suitable for Mac users since Photoshop is very similar on Macs. Please note that Photoshop Elements is a different product and, although there are similarities, you will need to do some extra work at home to translate between the two.
Please bring a pen and paper/notepad. You do not need a camera, but you might want to bring a memory stick to save pictures that you've worked on in class.
Learners are responsible for the purchase of materials relevant to the course.
