Eastleigh College is pleased to welcome David Yeandle OBE as the College’s new Chair of the Corporation.
As the President of the United Nations’ Staff-Management Committee, previously a specialist advisor on pensions for the House of Commons and having received an OBE for services to engineering and manufacturing employers when working for EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, David brings to the College a wealth of expertise and knowledge. He also has a keen interest in the economic success of the local area, having worked at Pirelli Cables in Eastleigh for nearly 20 years and lived in the area since 1976.
When asked about his appointment, David commented, “I am honoured to take up the role of Chair of the Corporation and, having lived most of my adult life in Eastleigh, I felt this was an opportunity to give something back to the local community that I couldn’t miss. I think the College is something of an unsung hero in Eastleigh, with a provision of excellent educational opportunities for its students and strong links to employers both locally and nationally. I would like to thank all of the Board and the College staff for their warm welcome and I very much look forward to getting to know those who are working and studying at the College over the coming months.”
As the Chair of the Corporation, David will be a trusted advisor for the College, helping to ensure its continued development as a high quality provider of technical and professional education, both nationally and locally.
When commenting on David’s role in the future development of the College, Chief Executive and Principal, Jan Edrich commented, “We are very excited to have David on board. He understands the complex nature of what we do here, and the many different customers we serve, both commercially and publicly. He is also extremely passionate about what we do and is keen to work with us to raise the profile of our excellent work even further. A very warm welcome David”.
