Lifelong learner stories inspire at College awards
Beaming tutors looked on as students from all stages of their learner journeys were presented with ‘Winner’ certificates at the opening of the Eastleigh College annual Learner Awards. Of the 39 finalists, three were awarded the top prizes: Adult Learner of the Year, Young Learner of the Year, and Apprentice of the Year.
Andrew is a winner at the global BTEC Awards
Andrew Urben, a second year learner at Eastleigh College, received a bronze award for BTEC Business and Enterprise Learner of the Year 2021 at the annual BTEC Awards. His outstanding achievements are among inspiring stories from more than 700 BTEC learners, tutors, teachers, schools and colleges from over 30 countries to be recognised and celebrated in the competition.
Cooling industry careers celebrated
World Refrigeration Day is a two week initiative organised by the Institute of Refrigeration (IoR) to put the refrigeration and air conditioning trade and its industry in the world’s spotlight. Eastleigh College learners, past and present, took part in celebrations giving the industry’s tradespeople the recognition they deserve.
Hospitality and Catering Team winners in national ‘Thank a Teacher Day’ celebrations
The Hospitality and Catering Team at Eastleigh College has been selected from thousands of nominations as one of 102 Pearson National Teaching Silver Award winners. The team was honoured with a Silver Award for FE Team of the Year for their outstanding commitment to changing the lives of the young people they work with every day.
Commitments to positive mental health reaffirmed
Supporting the mental health of students and staff is a major ongoing commitment for Eastleigh College. The latest initiative is the launch of an online Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub to promote wellbeing and proactively support student and staff mental health challenges.
Eastleigh College in Top 50 Most Inclusive Workplaces Index 2021
The recent NCFD FREDIE Awards put Eastleigh College in 48th place in the Top 100 Most Inclusive Workplaces Index 2021. The College began working with the National Centre for Diversity (NCFD) in 2020 to further embed its workplace values of ambition, respect, resilience and professionalism in all college activities.
Digital focus for Eastleigh’s new deputy principal
Eastleigh College has appointed a new deputy principal who will be responsible for the delivery of a growing curriculum as well as spearheading the college’s digital development with learners and staff alike.
Proposed Institute of Technology is a step closer in the Solent region
Eastleigh College is one of six FE and HE providers collaborating with Solent University in a bid to become the first Institute of Technology (IOT) in the Solent LEP region. The proposal is to create an IOT specialising in digital technologies, engineering and marine.
