Online remote working a success for Eastleigh College learners

During this testing time, our Uniformed Public Service learners are far from being obstructed. Through online resources and teaching platforms, our learners have been able to continue their education from home, as part of the stay at home procedure.

GCSE examinations update

Following guidance received today from the Department for Education and Ofqual, we can provided reassurance to students who were due to sit GCSEs at Eastleigh College this summer.

Eastleigh College ranked 10th nationally and 1st in Hampshire for Student Achievement Rates

Eastleigh College is delighted to announce that following the release of national government data, it has ranked 1st in Hampshire and 10th nationally against all other 6th form and further education colleges for its student achievement rates.

March Open Event - postponed

Eastleigh College continues to comply with Public Health England (PHE) guidance around coronavirus, to minimise risk to learners, staff and the wider community. In line with this guidance, this week’s Open Event which was due to take place on Thursday 19th March has been postponed.

Innovative learning provision leads to national industry award

We are delighted to have won an award at the ACC Apprenticeship Awards 2020 which recognises leading education and training providers across the UK. Eastleigh College beat off competition to take home the ‘SEND Apprenticeship Champion Award’ in recognition of the ambitious and innovative learning opportunities to provide to learners with an EHCP.

Chartered surveying apprentice champions 'work experience'

An apprentice quantity surveyor is singing the praises of the industry work experience he gained while studying full time at Eastleigh College which, in part, led to him successfully gaining an apprenticeship. He is now urging others who want to pursue a career in construction to push for relevant work experience with key local businesses.

This is testament to the dedication and expertise of our refrigeration and air conditioning teaching team, who have an enviable reputation attracting students and apprentices from across the UK.

Unique course for tomorrow's healthcare professionals

An innovative and exciting Level 3 Health & Social Care course has been launched for Sept 2020. The learning programme has been developed in partnership between Eastleigh College and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, and offers a unique introduction to school and college leavers with a desire to work in a range of clinical healthcare roles including nursing, midwifery and occupational therapy. The study programme is the first of its kind, and is likely to be even more popular following the government's recent announcement of a £5,000 per year NHS bursary scheme.

Eastleigh College recognised for excellence in GCSE re-sit results

We are delighted to have been recognised by The Times Education Awards for the support we provide to students who need to re-sit their GCSEs after leaving school. The excellent results our students achieved last summer include more than twice the national average gaining a maths GCSE, testament to the dedicated team of teachers who use innovative approaches and techniques to inspire our learners.

Regional heat of prestigious catering competition takes place

Young chefs and hospitality students from Eastleigh College were joined by other competitors from training providers across the south to take part in the southern regional heat of an established national competition. The Major Series 2020, which is organised by Major International in conjunction with the Craft Guild of Chefs, saw 50 competitors take over Eastleigh College's three professional kitchens and East Avenue restaurant and work their culinary majic across ten different classes from 'afternoon tea' to 'street food'.

Students gain insight into high-flying careers

A British Airways ambassador, Jo Paddington, provided an insight into cabin crew career opportunities, and fully explained the job responsibilities, as well as training, shift rotas, salary and career progression opportunities. She also spoke about BA’s new cabin crew apprenticeship scheme.
