National teaching awards recognise Eastleigh College with ‘Team of the Year’ and ‘Lecturer of the Year’

The Hospitality & Catering Team and Jules Vince, Teacher Training lecturer, have both received certificates of excellence from The Pearson National Teaching Awards. Their certificates for ‘Further Education Team of the Year’ and ‘Further Education Lecturer of the Year’ respectively provided a real boost to all the teaching professionals at the College at the end of an extraordinary and challenging term!

New courses launched to re-train 18-19s for high-demand work

Eastleigh College has launched a new range of courses called ‘Bounce Back Technical and Professional Qualifications’ to support 18 and 19-year-olds find work in targeted high-demand sectors like engineering, construction, and social care. These courses are free to applicants as part of the measures announced on 8 July in the Chancellor’s ‘Plan for Jobs’ boost for the post-Covid future. The College is now taking applications for the new courses.

2020 Exam and Qualification results update

Exceptional arrangements for sharing qualification outcomes and exam results. Due to the exceptional arrangements in place for awarding qualifications in 2020 and the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic there will be some changes in the way the College confirms and shares results with learners this year.

Still open and preparing for Enrolment Week

Eastleigh College is still open during office hours although our main reception and entrance on Chestnut Avenue is closed until 7 September. This is part of our commitment to ensure strict social distancing measures remain in place in all areas. Eastleigh College announces ambitious and collaborative ‘Covid-19 Bounce Back’ pledge

In a bid to support the Solent and South Hampshire’s economic recovery in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, Eastleigh College has launched an ambitious and collaborative pledge which aims to benefit individuals, employers and communities across the region. The pledge has been developed with support from a numbers of stakeholders including business groups, employers, councils, schools and University of Portsmouth.

Ofsted reviews quality of online experience for students and apprentices at Eastleigh College

In response to the rapid expansion of online education and the proliferation of virtual classrooms, Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education Children's Services and Skills) is undertaking a national review to evaluate learners’ experience of the online learning available to them. Eastleigh College is one of the 12 FE colleges nationally invited to participate, and the only college from the Solent region.

Students receive reassurance over 2020 qualifications

Eastleigh College's Vice Principal (Quality), Paul Stannard, has reassured learners that he is confident they will receive the vocational and technical qualifications that their whole year efforts deserve, despite the unsettling time caused by the coronavirus lockdown. This follows the latest guidance from Ofqual and the College's proactive work with numerous awarding organisations, with learners being urged to continue their studies using the remote resources being provided.

Career-driven approach leads to Eastleigh College becoming first in Hampshire to meet national standard

Eastleigh College is the first and only technical and professional college in Hampshire to achieve the new national Quality in Careers Standard, awarded by Investor in Careers. The whole college approach to career-focused education has resulted in this accolade being achieved well ahead of the September 2020 deadline, and Eastleigh College is featured on the Quality in Careers Consortium website to help inspire other FE and sixth form colleges.

Eastleigh College to further extend opening from 1 June

After careful planning, detailed risk assessment and subject to any further Government announcements Eastleigh College is extending onsite campus teaching, learning and assessment to more learners from 1 June. The College has remained open during the Covid-19 pandemic as staff have been providing a broad range of onsite and online services. Therefore this phased approach builds upon the onsite levels of service and support which has been available to learners identified as vulnerable, or the children of key workers since 23 March.

Eastleigh College is enjoying a period of unrivalled success across Hampshire as 16-18 student provision continues to go from strength to strength. Students and apprentices excel in virtual learning environments

Following the Government’s call to stay home and stay safe in a bid to minimise the spread of Covid-19, Eastleigh College students and apprentices are continuing to receive expert teaching and guidance remotely as they work towards gaining their qualifications, and the College’s careers team is busy supporting those planning on applying for jobs or apprenticeships.
