SUN Progression Mentor

Salary: £24,504

Hours: 37 hours per week

Full-Time / Fixed Term

A day in the life of…..

As a SUN Progression Mentor your day will always be varied, you will be located within a friendly team alongside the Work Experience team and the Careers Advisor. You will be working closely with the identified Uni Connect students. This may be with group workshops or on a 1-1 basis providing guidance to help them progress with their next steps. You may be running workshops that help to enhance their employability skills, confidence, and resilience or expanding their knowledge of career routes and options. You will be managing your own workload to keep on top of the planning, delivering and reporting of activities both internally and externally. Within your role you will be getting creative with different stake holders to implement activities throughout the academic year to support the aims of the Uni Connect programme.

Skills/experience required:

Previous experience of working with young people, proven experience in organising and scheduling events, activities and resources.  Ability to set aims and objectives, plan and monitor own workload. Experience of networking with external stakeholders.

Knowledge of Microsoft IT packages.

Qualifications required:

Skill level equivalent to achievement of HND, Degree, NVQ4 or basic professional qualification.

Comprehensive knowledge of the secondary, tertiary and higher education sectors.

Ideal attributes of applicant:

The ideal applicant will be comfortable talking and engaging with young people and be able to network with outside agencies. To feel confident with their ability to deliver workshops or host events as and when required for the role.
