A day in the life of…

Eastleigh College funds apprentices and adults in a large variety of subject areas, both internally and externally.  Eastleigh College is looking to appoint a Quality, Compliance and Improvement  Officer to join our Team, with the general purpose of monitoring training provision, liaising with subcontractors and undertaking audit practices on internal departments in line with approved audit planning and reporting procedures.

Reporting progress most days to the manager and under their direction, you will be responsible for calling samples of learners from those live on courses/programmes, and recording and monitoring outcomes of progress and satisfaction and adherence with ESFA funding rules per stream.

You will be responsible for the writing up, storing and disseminating of audit reports; frequency of audits will be dependent upon risk. As part of this role you will work closely with the teaching and learning quality team to escalate instances of poor quality and assist with other routine ‘quality’ audits where required. Part of the role may include the implementation of teaching delivery plans, monitoring and setting targets for delivery staff to improve the quality of provision being delivered.

Skills/experience required:

Experience of teaching and assessing is essential as well as experience of working within a training provider or college environment. Compliance experience would be an advantage, particularly within further education or for an independent training provider plus, understanding of ESFA funding rules for both Apprenticeships and the Adult Education Budget (AEB) will be an advantage. Knowledge of sectors and industries such as Health and Social Care, Child Care, Engineering, Business Administration and Construction will also be an advantage. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Knowledge and use of e-portfolio systems and virtual learning environments is desirable.

Qualifications required:

  • Minimum GCSE grade C in English and Maths or level 2 equivalent.
  • IQA/Assessors Award.
  • ICT Level 2 (desirable).
  • Substantive Level 3 Qualification/s (BTEC/NVQ Diploma/A levels).
