Industry Placement and Work Experience Coordinator 

Salary: £22,484 per annum

Hours: 37 per week, 52 weeks per year

Full-Time / Permanent

Start date: ASAP

A day in the life of:

A typical college day can look very different from one day to the next, so being adaptable is vital to this role.

Day to day duties will include speaking with employers and conducting risk assessments (offsite), delivering Industry placement/work experience tutorials, inputting/approving work placements on the work experience platform, supporting those who require DBS checks for their placement and one to one support to students who require help obtaining a work placement/CV writing/improving interview skills.

It would also include supporting the Industry Placement /Work Experience Team Leader with collating information for producing accurate reports.

Skills/experience required:

The ideal candidate would work well as part of a team, have excellent interpersonal/customer skills and have previous experience of using Microsoft IT packages.

It would be advantageous to have previous experience within a customer facing role/working with young people.

Qualifications required:

  • Maths and English grade C/4 in GCSE or Level 2 equivalent
  • IOSH (or working towards this qualification)
  • Be proficient in using Microsoft IT packages

Ideal attributes of applicant:

For this role the ideal candidate would be comfortable engaging/visiting external employers and conducting risk assessments.

They would also be confident speaking with young people and supporting them prior to their work placement in various capacities and happy to deliver work experience tutorials to groups of students.

They would be highly organised, enthusiastic, work well under pressure and willing to assist the team with other duties when needed.

They would be comfortable speaking on the phone, writing emails and working with new database systems.

During peak periods, working outside usual hours may be required so being flexible to meet business needs would be required.

The ideal candidate would also need to understand the value in work placements and the role this plays developing a student’s understanding of their chosen industry.
