We are committed to the continuous professional development of our Assistant Principals and this vacancy is a significant opportunity for effective leaders who are ambitious for their learners, their staff and their own careers. In turn you will be committed to the continuing development and succession of your direct reports. If successful you would join an Assistant Principal team of three, with each having direct curriculum management as well as whole college responsibilities. This vacancy will line manage the technology area, and whole college responsibilities are delegated in discussion with the team. If the post is your first Assistant Principal role you would be delegated responsibilities to build your knowledge of college operations and our diverse mix of provision. More complex and strategic responsibilities would be delegated to colleagues already operating at Assistant Principal level so as to develop readiness for future Vice Principal roles. 


A day in the life of the Assistant Principal:

  • To promote and lead excellence in teaching and learning, and drive innovative approaches to improve student success and the quality of teaching
  • To effectively manage and implement improvements in the quality of teaching and learning of the curriculum
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the college’s quality assurance processes across the curriculum and fully deliver the College’s strategic and operational plans
  • To effectively manage curriculum planning and staffing in line with the college strategy and priorities
  • The promotion of links with external institutions, agencies and organisations to increase business opportunities and enable career progression for the students of the college
  • To lead continuous improvement in delegated areas of cross College responsibility
  • The creation and development of new market opportunities and methods of delivery to provide education and training to meet the needs of local and regional employers and the wider community to ensure the economic sustainability of the college
  • To be responsible for the effective management of all curriculum teams in the faculty and to act as the decision maker


Qualifications required:

  • Minimum of Level 2 English, Maths and ICT
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification
  • Cert Ed or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Educated to Masters level or higher level qualification
  • Evidence of Progressive Career Development and CPD
