Adult Community Learning Tutor  

Salary: £18.53 – 28.77 per hour (dependent on qualifications and experience)

Hours: Various (see more details below)

A day in the life of…..

Our sessional tutors prepare and provide quality guided tuition to a range of mixed ability adult learners, ensuring that the classes are inclusive, fun, informative, and engaging.

Ideal attributes of applicant:

A motivational communicator, you are approachable, compassionate, organised, enthusiastic, and willing to undergo further training and development if appropriate.

 

Archaeology Tutor

  • Fixed Term/Sessional: 01/09/2021 – 31/12/2021
  • 2 hours per week, 10 week course
  • To teach small groups of adult learners. Previous teaching experience is not essential, but you should be confident in your ability to teach your archaeology knowledge to others, ensuring that your topic is well researched and up to date. 

 

Cake Baking & Decorating Tutor

  • Fixed Term/Sessional hours throughout the academic year
  • To teach small groups of adult learner’s cake baking, cake decorating, and bread making. Although previous teaching experience is not essential, you should be confident in your ability to teach your skills to others, ensuring that you keep up to date with new trends and techniques. 

 

French Language Tutor

  • Fixed Term/Sessional
  • 2 hours a week, 10 weeks a year
  • We require an experienced French language tutor to teach a small group of adult learners. You should be confident in your ability to teach your skills to adults with a wide range of abilities. 

 

Garden Design Tutor

  • Fixed Term/Sessional: 01/01/2022 – 31/03/2022
  • 2 hours per week, 5 week course
  • To teach small groups of adult learners about basic garden design. Previous teaching experience is not essential, but you should be confident in your ability to teach your skills to others, ensuring that your topics are well researched and up to date.  Theoretical classroom based course. 

 

Introduction to Counselling Tutor

  • Fixed Term/Sessional: 01/09/2021 – 31/07/2022
  • 3 hours per week, 8 week course
  • To teach small groups of adult learners about counselling concepts. Previous teaching experience is not essential but you should be confident in providing a clear understanding of what counselling training entails.  Tutors are required to shadow some classes on a voluntary basis before teaching their own.

 

Learning Support Assistant – Fitness & Dance

  • Fixed Term/Sessional
  • 2 hours (Friday morning 10am-12pm)
  • Although previous experience is not essential, we are looking for someone who relates well to learners with additional support needs, and is able to develop and maintain effective relationships with learners to promote learning and independence.  You will also have an understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.

 

Music Workshop Tutor

  • Fixed Term/Sessional
  • 2 hours a week, 30 weeks a year
  • We require a music tutor to teach a small group of supported adult learners with mild to moderate learning disabilities. Although previous teaching experience is not essential, you should be confident in your ability to teach your skills to adults who have a wide range of abilities. 

 

Upholstery Tutor

  • Fixed Term/Sessional: 01/09/2021 – 31/12/2021
  • 2 hours per week, 10 week course
  • To teach small groups of adult learners the basics of traditional and modern upholstery techniques. Although previous teaching experience is not essential, you should be a master of your trade and confident in your ability to teach your skills to others. 

 

Welding for Beginners Tutor

  • Fixed Term/Sessional: 01/09/2021 – 31/12/2021
  • 2 hours per week, 8 week course
  • To teach small groups of adult learners the basics of MIG welding. Previous teaching experience is not essential, but you should be confident in your ability to teach your skills to others and cater for the range of abilities of our learners.
