Sophie completed her management science degree with City University, London before commencing her finance and accounting career as a graduate with KPMG in 1993 as an accountant specialising in recovering and insolvency. In addition to her professional accounting status, Sophie is also a qualified insolvency practitioner.
She moved to Deutsche Bank for a two year period until 2000 and led a team with a similar focus to her time at KPMG. For a period of 17 years, Sophie worked for BT in the UK and the US, working in financial analytics, commercial finance, investor relations, operations and transformation. In 2014 she was appointed Director of Shared Service Centres with BT –with a budget of £31m and delivering the accounting function for 284 entities across 170 countries, and responsible for 900 staff working across Hungary, India, Argentina and the UK. Sophie joined Serco in 2018 and chose to leave in 2019.
