Sarah has over fifteen years’ experience working in the higher education sector, specialising in widening participation and the wider student experience. She is currently the Head of Participation and Success (Deputy Director, Student Support and Success) at the University of Winchester where she has driven initiatives to enhance the access and outcomes of disadvantaged groups, including championing institution wide plans to address ethnicity awarding gaps.
Sarah has a long-held passion for equality and social justice, stemming from her time as a sabbatical officer as a student at the University of South Wales (nee. Glamorgan). She previously co-founded the Hampshire Pride event in Winchester for the local LGBT* community and is a Founding Trustee of the Winchester City of Sanctuary, a voluntary run and led local community group creating a place of welcome for asylum seekers and refugees in Winchester and the surrounding region. She is also the Chair of Board for the Service Children’s Progression (SCiP) Alliance, a UK-wide network for practitioners supporting the educational progression of children from military service families.
