Students find inspiration at Solent Skills Festival

SF1SF2

The annual Solent Skills Festival, hosted by Solent Education and Business Partnership took place on Wednesday 4th November at the opulent City Cruise Terminal in Dock Gate 10, Southampton.

A swathe of pupils from over 100 local schools descended on the Terminal, eager to learn about everything from Electrical Installation to Dental Nursing in the interactive learning setting. The event is designed to raise awareness of professions, occupational areas and industries, and to help provide guidance with Apprenticeships, Diplomas, GCSE subjects and career choices.

Pupils from Years 9, 10 and 11 visited the exhibition to explore their choices for future careers. Eastleigh College provided information on the training and qualifications available, with the aim of helping the students improve their understanding and awareness in preparation for the world of work.

Karen Wyeth, Schools Liaison Coordinator commented:

"Each year the Skills Festival grows, and this year we had exhibition stands from numerous departments at Eastleigh College, presenting practical demonstrations and hands-on activities in Engineering, Automotive, Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy, Floristry and so much more. We had many enthusiastic students visit our colourful displays and many left the event with one of the Funky Cocktails created with the assistance of our own Eastleigh College Floristry students
