
Eastleigh College celebrated their annual graduation and awards ceremony on Friday 27 November, with over 60 students receiving certificates in Higher National Qualifications and Professional Qualifications.
The well attended event included guests such as the Deputy Mayor of Eastleigh, Councillor John Caldwell and Terri Sandison, Director of Learning at the University of Winchester. Rebecca Bunting, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Portsmouth was guest speaker for the event and echoed the University's commitment to working in partnership with the College in the provision of quality Higher Education courses.
Students successfully passed a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses including Foundation Degrees, Higher National Certificates, Diploma courses and Teacher Training qualifications. Subjects covered range from Construction, Counselling and Accountancy to Business, Management and Marketing. Certificates were presented to graduates in front of proud family, friends, the College Board of Governors, staff and College partners.
Eastleigh College also celebrated the outstanding results of eleven students who received Student of the Year Awards in addition to their course certificates. These awards are judged by the College's tutors and are sponsored by various organisations including BPP Publishing and Southampton Solent University. Ruth Pugh, who successfully completed her Certificate in Education, received the College's top accolade: Highest Achiever of the Year. Ruth demonstrated outstanding dedication, always producing high quality work that exceeded expectations and this was duly recognised by the College.
Jean Roberts, the College's Director of Learning said: "This ceremony offers a chance to recognise the outstanding achievements that the students have gained through their hard work and commitment. It is wonderful to see the increasing number of Eastleigh College students graduating. They are a real credit to themselves, their families, our community and the hard-working dedicated staff of Eastleigh College. Here at the College we strive to provide first class learning opportunities for our students and this is evident from the calibre of this year's graduates".
