College Achieves Training Quality Standard Excellence in Building Services

TQS Part B

Eastleigh College celebrated the news that the College has achieved the prestigious Training and Quality Standard (TQS) Part B Award with Excellence in Building Services Engineering.

The Training and Quality Standard (TQS) was launched in 2008 by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC). It aims to identify training providers that are committed to being responsive to employer needs and excel in a particular vocational area, making it easier for employers to identify a benchmark in choosing a training provider.

Gary Lawton, Learning Manager for Gas and Plumbing, said "We are delighted to have been awarded the enviable kitemark. The fact that the assessment process was validated by a comprehensive employers' survey is testament to the quality of our provision and the dedication of our staff in delivering excellence". Having achieved this high accolade, the College now plans to submit further curriculum specific applications this academic year.

The Building Services Department encompasses courses in plumbing, gas, refrigeration, air conditioning and electrical installation. Lessons take place in our state-of-the-art training centre, utilising fully equipped workshops, giving students the opportunity to gain practical experience in their chosen field. The Building Services Department has strong ties with the industry, including companies such as Baxi, SEC and Kier Group, as well as local merchants.

The College's Business Development Team provides advice and training opportunities to hundreds of businesses within Hampshire. Employers can find out more about the award winning training available through Eastleigh College by contacting the team on 023 8091 1195.
