Students and staff at Eastleigh College could have been forgiven for thinking they had been invaded by witches and devils last week, as Health and Social Care students dressed up with a Halloween theme to raise money for Naomi House.
In a whirl of devil horns, witches hats, black lipstick and pumpkins, the scary students patrolled the College asking for donations in recognition of their dressing up efforts.
Naomi House is a local children's hospice which opened in 1997, to provide respite care, terminal care and bereavement support for children and families from across the South of England. The work done by the charity struck a cord with Eastleigh's Health and Social Care students who took the decision to help raise funds for them.
The initiative was a huge success, with students raising £250 for the charity. Judith Graham, Learning Manager at Eastleigh College commented;
"The students did tremendously well and managed to raise much more than we anticipated!"
Representatives from Naomi House have been invited to attend a cheque presentation at Eastleigh College in early December.
All students at Eastleigh College are encouraged to make a positive contribution to the local community, and fundraising for deserving charities is one of the ways they can achieve this.
