Students unfazed by threat of fee increases

Higher Education Fair

Students at Eastleigh College didn't seem to be too worried about the media hype over university fee increases at the Higher Education Fair this week. Representatives from nine universities including Bournemouth, Brighton, Solent and Portsmouth came to the College to give students information and advice on progressing on to Higher Education.

With the employment market at a 14 year low, and job opportunities looking particularly sparse for young people, many are now considering continuing their education to degree level.

The Higher Education fair marks the start of a string of events designed to equip students and their parents with as much information as possible about progressing on to university. Beverley Kozlowski, Progression Tutor at Eastleigh College commented:

"I'm really pleased to see so many of our students made the effort to come in and speak to universities today. It's so important for them to gather as much information as they can at this stage, so they can make informed choices about their futures."

Eastleigh College offers a wide range of full and part-time courses that offer progression routes to Higher Education. Being a specialist vocational provider, Eastleigh College is also able to equip young people with practical and transferable skills that could help give them the edge when job hunting in such a competitive market. For adults looking to enter Higher Education, the College also offers a full-time Access to Higher Education course which has strong links with local universities.

For further information on full-time courses at Eastleigh College, come along to the open evening on Wednesday 14 October, 4.30 – 7.30pm, or visit www.eastleigh.ac.uk
