Foundation Course Students at Eastleigh College have made their own mark on the new Nando's in Eastleigh, with special copper restroom door signs, made in their metalwork class with Pete Nolan.
The students visited Nando's for lunch during its opening week to enjoy a meal out, but found the existing restroom signage was unclear. Students on The Foundation Course have a range of learning difficulties which make accessibility issues all the more important.
In order to overcome this problem, the students offered to make new signs to help the restaurant become more accessible to all. Restaurant Manager, Donald Day, happily accepted the offer, commenting:
"It is fantastic that the students offered to improve our restaurant. We are keen to welcome all visitors and to promote the Nando's values of family and integrity whenever we have the opportunity."
Katherine Paddington, a Foundation Tutor at Eastleigh College, was thrilled at the Nando's staff's inclusive approach, and really pleased with the overall outcome of the visit.
Once the new signs were complete, students Lucy Deighton, Ferhan Sheikh, Nicholas Maunder and Luke Jones returned to Nando's and presented them to the manager, Donald Day (pictured).
