Delighted Eastleigh College Higher Education students celebrated their successes at the annual graduation and awards ceremony. Over 110 students achieved higher education awards at the College, with many students attending the prestigious ceremony at the College's main campus on Friday evening. Awards were presented by The Deputy Mayor of Eastleigh, Councillor Mrs Pamela Holden-Brown and guest speaker Mr Tim Light, the Immediate Past President of the Association for Accounting Technicians.

From the variety of higher education courses on offer at the College, qualifications awarded on the night included: HNC in Construction, Counselling Skills, AAT Accounting Technician, CIMA Managerial Level, Professional Diploma's in Management Studies, Marketing and Certificates in Teaching and Education.

Sandra Homer, a Business Workshop NVQ Level 4 student, won both Student of the Year and Highest Achiever of the Year Awards. A very surprised Sandra said "It's great to have an evening where your efforts can be recognised and rewarded. Student of the Year and then the Highest Achiever Award came as a complete surprise; I couldn't believe that it was awarded to me! It's been a long time since I have done any studying and it was great to achieve this whilst still working full-time and being a single mum. I am now looking into studying towards a degree".

Jean Roberts, Director of Teaching and Learning at Eastleigh College said
"The evening was a truly inspirational event. The commitment and dedication of these learners has been unfaltering. Many are holding full-time jobs and looking after families alongside a demanding higher education programme. They demonstrate enormous self discipline and motivation to succeed".
