Eastleigh College in Hampshire can offer its plumbing and heating students the opportunity to have hands-on experience of the very latest heating technologies thanks to its partnership with Baxi Group. And Baxi Group has the chance to use the state-of-the-art facilities as a training centre for installers in the area.
The Baxi Group Training Suite, situated in a brand new, purpose built building at the College, was formally opened at a ceremony attended by College staff; representatives from Baxi Group; members of the South East Area of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE); and local installers.
Paul Adams, Eastleigh College Head of Technology, explained that senior management at the College understands the construction sector and the importance of looking to the future. Over £10 million has been spent on new workshops and the gas assessment area in order to provide the very best facilities for students.
"We are delighted with our partnership with Baxi," he said. "The heating industry is a very fast moving sector and it is crucial for students and employees to be able to work on the latest equipment. And we need to be ahead of the game with renewable energy products. By thinking about courses now, we will be up to speed when new legislation comes in.
"The training suite is a showcase for Baxi Group as well as being an enormous benefit for the College."
Trevor Ralph of Baxi Group replied: "This partnership works well for everyone. It is important for us to have a training facility where we can bring local installers. And in turn it will bring business to Eastleigh College. It's a win-win situation!"
A tour of the new facilities impressed John Edwards, South East Area Co-ordinator of the CIPHE. "This is a perfect venue for Professional Development evenings when we promote lifetime learning."
There are eight Baxi Group training centres located across the UK. Please visit www.baxigrouptraining.co.uk or call 0845 600 7402 for more information on the courses offered or to find your nearest training centre.
