The Rising Success of Art

d1d2d3

More than 200 people from the world of art and the local community gathered to celebrate the end of year art exhibition 'RISE' at Eastleigh College this month.

Hosted by the College's Visual and Creative Arts department, 'RISE' was a tribute to the 'rising' of the new creative arts campus facilities in Desborough Road.
Designed as a multimedia exhibition to showcase the best of students work, RISE featured animations, documentaries, music videos, photography, graphic design and fine art displays as well as live performances from the colleges Performing Arts students, written especially for the occasion.

The success of this year's show is particularly relevant as it comes at a time when Eastleigh College celebrates all 22 of this year's qualifying art students achieving entrance to their first choice universities. Universities which include Goldsmiths College (University of London), Wimbledon College of Art and the Chelsea College of Art and Design. A record not achieved by many other colleges in the area.

Dr Sebastiane Hegarty, Course Manager for the pre-degree foundation diploma and a published specialist in contemporary art practice said "We really are the serious option now in the area for students wanting pre-degree preparation in the creative arts."
