Eastleigh College Supports Vocational Qualifications Day

Eastleigh College celebrates Vocational Qualifications Day on Wednesday following a record number of learners studying at the college this academic year (2007/08). The college saw 1,287 students aged 16-18 placed on full-time vocational courses, making it the college's most successful year ever!

Eastleigh College's School of Art, Design & Media celebrated success when 100% of the final year BTEC National Diploma students gained their first choice of University placement, while both Construction & Built Environment and Business Administration have seen a record number of Higher Education offers this year.

A total of 15,500 learners have studied vocationally based courses with Eastleigh College this year. Many will go on to develop their knowledge through further study or benefit from better job opportunities and enhanced skills in the workplace.

"Vocational qualifications offer people the opportunity to learn relevant skills which will help improve both employment and education prospects" commented Jean Roberts, Director in Teaching & Learning. "The qualifications we offer emphasize the assessment of practical skills and knowledge enabling people to reach their potential in a wide range of different subjects".
