Keeping the Crowd Safe at Bon Jovi Concert

When rock group Bon Jovi came to Southampton's St Mary's Stadium in June, it was no surprise that over 29,000 fans came as well.
As one of the world's most successful rock bands they are always sure to draw a big crowd but managing a large amount of people in one place takes some skill.

Fortunately, many of the 250 spectator safety stewards on the night, employed by Southampton Football Club had recently gained their NVQ's in Spectator Safety qualification thanks to a innovative new scheme with Eastleigh College.

Samantha Peplow from the college's business development team commented "We have been working with SFC for awhile now in setting up this qualification and are really pleased that the scheme has been as popular as it has. It's great that other clubs are now looking to SFC to provide spectator safety training for their stewards."

Eastleigh College has recently supported Southampton Football Club in its successful bid to become an accredited training centre and position itself as the south's leading provider of crowd safety training.

Southampton Football Club has recently signed up to train safety stewards from a number of neighbouring clubs including Aldershot, Salisbury and Portsmouth.
